By Ron Clement DeLelles
Our story chronicles the lives
of Bulgarian immigrants
John Antonoff and Stella Petrova,
my grandparents, as they
immigrate to West Homestead, PA
in the early 1900s and raise a family.
The story centers around their
daughter, (my mother) Marie, and
her eventual trip back to her parents’ ancestral village in search of long-lost relatives.
Roses for Marie highlights the best of the little-known Balkan culture, and recounts our unbelievable journey in the summer of 2004.
The book is a warm-hearted,
sometimes humorous account
that celebrates the best of
human relationships and
what it means to be family.
